First of all, we’re sorry to announce that the first SSK airdrop has been postponed to 00:00 (UTC) on Oct 15th, 2020, 5 days later than originally planned.

Details of the SSK token airdrop for October 2020:

  • Snapshot time: 00:00 UTC, 15th October, 2020
  • Airdrop reward: 41,666 SSK
  • Referral rate: 80%

We’ve recently published our airdrop smart contract which you can review now on GitHub, where test cases are also available. However, we’re still in the process of finalizing the front-end user interface for participating in the airdrop, so no URL for now, but we’ll make sure to open it up to the public at least 24 hours before the snapshot time specified above.

[Update] Front-end interface is now available.

Since this is the first airdrop, we’ll share more about the rules here.

How to Get Airdrop?

To get the airdrop SSK tokens you’ll need to have SUN tokens staked in the airdrop contract at the snapshot timestamp. The amount of time you’ve staked before snapshot time is reached is not a factor for calculating reward. All that matters is to have tokens staked at the snapshot time. You may stake just seconds before snapshot and unstake immediately afterwards if you like.

The amount of SSK tokens you’ll receive is calculated as:

Airdrop Reward = Total Airdrop Reward * Your SUN Tokens Staked / Total SUN Token Supply

Note that the denominator here is the total SUN token supply, not the total staked amount. This is by design. If the total staked amount is used instead, we’d be creating an incentive for stakers to not tell others about the airdrop, effectively defeating the very purpose of holding these airdrops.

More about Referrals

One of the major differences with SSK airdrops compared to traditional counterparts is the addition of referrals. The team has invested a lot of effort into building a robust referral program, which will hopefully help promote the SunStake platform.

Referrals are Permanent

As mentioned in a previous post, referral relationships are permanent, and automatically apply to all future airdrops.

For example, if you invite someone and he/she stakes for the October airdrop, then you’ll receive referral rewards for this airdrop for sure. But what’s really cool about the referral program is that this referral is recorded globally, and if the referred stakes again in future airdrops, you’ll receive rewards as well, as long as they use the same address, even if they use a different device without your referral link.

Referrals are also permanent in the sense that they cannot be overwritten. That is, once a referral relationship is established, even if the referred stakes again with a different referrer, that new referrer will be automatically ignored.

Browser only Remembers the First Referrer

In the last subsection above, we talked about how referrals are non-overwritable once established, but there’s actually more we’re doing to protect referrers’ interest.

Our airdrop webpage only stores the first referrer it sees, and automatically discards future referral links. Therefore, even if your audience attempts to change referrer by visiting their own referral link, it won’t work and you’ll still be the referrer.

Of course, if the user is determined enough, he/she can always clear browser data or even use a different device to get rid of the stored referrer. But we expect most users to not go this far.
